Jo SpencerHomeGrown Heroes Club and Pandemic Response Program Project Manager

Jo Spencer began her corporate career upon graduating from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. She served ten years with an independent oil and gas firm in Tulsa, Oklahoma, resigning as Vice President of Administration. Her duties during that time included revenue accounting, land administration and title work, all aspects of human resources, managing office and administrative staff, serving as Corporate Secretary, and liaison with the corporate legal team and Board of Directors. Ms. Spencer also worked as a part-time internal auditor for a community college and managed a family owned cattle ranch.

After having her first child, Ms. Spencer made a choice to leave the workplace to become a stay-at-home mom. Her three children are now successful and independent adults with careers of their own. It was during this time that Ms. Spencer learned of the need for so many children to have positive role models in their lives. She spent twenty-five years volunteering for leadership and fundraising roles in her children’s activities, which included Parent-Teacher Associations, scouting organizations, Vacation Bible Schools, Sunday School, and athletic booster clubs. Working with children and teens in a voluntary capacity allowed Ms. Spencer the opportunity to see the need for a positive role model on a personal level. Her family experienced many relocations and were exposed to many different cultures, and the need for positive role models was always present. Today, more than ever, children and teens need the programs that HomeGrown Heroes Club offers. They will be learning how to become the positive role models of the future. Ms. Spencer is proud to be a part of the Leadership Team bringing these programs to life.

Ms. Spencer is a Certified Brain Stimulated Wellness (BSW) Interventionist. During her four years of involvement with BSW, her desire grew to use the knowledge gained from the BSW training and protocol to help children and youth learn the value of their own lives. The HomeGrown Heroes Club offers this opportunity and much more.
